Joseph Guarnerius fecit Cremonea anno 1714 IHS Violin. Back Length 14 1/16" Overall Length 2' Width 8" I am not an expert on this. What I have found is this IS NOT an original piece. It is most likely a German reproduction with the label inside, intended to honor the maker by reproducing exact type replicas around early 1900. The labels were not intended to decieve the buyer, rather to honor the maker. To me it appears original with the exception of the strings and perhaps the bow. The violin had been used quit a bit in it's life and shows expected wear for it's age. It shows no signs of abuse. One adjustment screw is missing and there are a few cracks, as seen in the pictures, on the back at the bottom and around the side at the bottom. A beautiful old violin for display or to restore. It has the case which latches and functions smoothly, with two small compartments. AGAIN, you are not buying an ORIGINAL, or the price would be in the millions. Insured shipping is free with tracking number in the Continental US. There will be no return on this item. Ensure you want this beautiful violin before making the purchase.
